COMENGIP (community engineering programe) is a nonprofit Partnership, based in Senegal, strong of eighteen years of experience and activism in the area of sustainable development and community capacity building in Senegal and the West African region. Emphasizing the lack of dynamic knowledge conveyors relevant to our development issues, COMENGIP got involved in the information and technical assistance value added services to rural and agricultural value chain.
First and foremost, as a community-based organization under Daaraylamp International, (founded in 1992 in Kaolack, Senegal), COMENGIP then specialized in the brokering between producers and consumers precisely in 1996. Since then, the trio between intermediation, advocacy and consultancy helped enhancing our mission towards supporting the agricultural policy relevant to environment and development near decision-making bodies including but not limited to the World Bank, the UNDP and UNEP, especially through our accreditation (as the first community-based organization in Africa admitted) to the NGO Network of the Global Environment, GEF in 1997.
Our Vision: Agricultural and rural development to be sustainable must ultimately consider weighing in traditional methods of knowledge transfer, through information and communication.
Our Mission: Contributing to food self-sufficiency in Africa by improving the status of the producer as follows:
Updating of production systems in line with new information and communications technologies (NICTs),
Critical analysis and gradual adoption of biological processes ex-ante production, and food security,
Joint Exploration of related factors affecting agricultural productivity and rural development overall.
